Dear Parents,

We know that there are high levels of anxiety about the return to school on Monday; for children, parents and staff.

We hope that this short PowerPoint with photos will help you to support your child(ren) over the weekend so that they know what to expect when they return to school.

Welcome from our Head Teacher Mrs Folland

Hello and a very warm welcome to our school website. We hope it gives you a flavour of who we are but warmly encourage you to come and visit us soon so you can experience our lovely school for yourself.

We aim to ensure that Our Lady and St Patrick’s School offers the highest possible quality of education and to be a beacon of excellent educational practice. We also try to make Our Lady and St Patrick’s School an oasis of Christian love where all actions are rooted in the Gospel.

The quality of our welcome hopefully shows our school to be a place where everyone will feel welcome and everyone will feel valued. We try especially hard to celebrate the uniqueness and giftedness of every individual – not just children but everyone involved in the life of the school.

We hope that our children leave us as:

  • Happy, caring and good-natured children who understand how they can become agents of social change and make a positive contribution to the world around them.

  • Confident, balanced, self-disciplined, polite, individual, and mature children who can form positive relationships, contribute to their surroundings, and hold to their principles while showing respect for others and their beliefs, views and opinions.

  • Articulate, independent learners who are self-motivated, ask great questions, confident in using technology and ready to make the most they can of their secondary and lifelong education.

We are a school at the very heart of its community. The Catholic Faith and the principles of the Gospel are central to the daily life of Our Lady and St Patrick’s School so we are committed to ‘Living, Loving and Learning Together in God’s Way’ through our words and actions.                 Angela Folland

The school was inspected in February 2017

“As an ex pupil who loved attending OLSP,  from a nostalgic point of view I was always tempted to send my children to the school too. Ultimately, though, my decision to enrol my children at OLSP was more informed than simple nostalgia.

‘Handing your child over’ to start school is a stressful time for all parents and guardians but to see first-hand the quality of care, attention and interaction afforded to all children at the school was so reassuring. Moreover, to receive regular communication and feedback on our child’s progress from the first day was as important to me as a parent.

The school has a sense of community to it and adopts a personal approach, rather than a corporate one. There is a family feel to the school and a relationship between each member of staff with almost every child because the school is small enough in number to allow it, yet big enough so as not to be insular. Equally, there is a relationship between the parents and staff which extends beyond just the class teacher of your child.

Currently, I sit as a Governor at the school and whilst there is, and always will be room for improvement of course, I know how well run the school is behind the scenes and how hard the staff and the many volunteers are working every day to implement with the children the values of trust, honesty, compassion, responsibility and love upon which the school foundations are built.
